March 5th, 2021: Of the Coming of the Elves and the Captivity of Melkor

“But when the Battle was ended and from the ruin of the North great clouds arose and hid the stars, the Valar drew Melkor back to Valinor, bound hand and foot, and blindfold; and his was brought to the Ring of Doom.  There he lay upon his face before the feet of Manwe and sued for pardon; but his prayer was denied...”

 

Summary Prompt

 

Now that the Valar are aware of the Children of Ilúvatar, some are initially keen to do something (such as Tulkas) and others (such as Manwe) make the decision to wait. Often, the Valar are divided when they debate issues.

Thematic Prompt

 

The Elves must make the decision on whether to make the journey or stay behind.  In some cases, friends who knew each other for years might have been split apart, and for a very long while.  Use this theme of those who make a journey or those who are left behind (or both) in your creation.
